Don’t let the blackness of the bird weigh you down. Some of the blackest birds can turn to be the most beautiful birds of all.  -Tracy A. Ross

Its no secret I battle depression.  My first bout happened after my first was born.   My husband and I joke that my daughter brain absorbed all my serotonin.  She is the biggest ray of sunshine even on the darkest days.  Although her mood is contagious, Its still something I live with.  The biggest misconception is you can “think” your way out of depression when in actuality it is a chemical imbalance.  I am fortunate enough that Ive never been depressed so bad suicide was on the brain but I have definitely felt the hopelessness others feel when they don’t have any outlet to turn to.  You are blind, you can not see.  Depression takes your sight away, your feelings.  You are numb.  The only safe place is alone, in bed sleeping what feels like days, nights, weeks, months, years.  Without treatment I don’t know how well my quality of life would be.  Its a state of doubt, worry, confusion.

My therapy is art.  With medical and natural treatment I am back  to my happy place.

The amazing thing about art is it can be interpreted by the individual.  I could explain however I think these portraits speak for themselves.

This is the national suicide prevention line.  We should never have to lose when help is available.

Until next time.
